The Leadership Greater Rochester Class of 2016 aims to act as a consultant for the Rochester Parks and Recreation Department in order to build a business plan identifying community partners, programming, create a phased construction plan, and beautify former Fire Station # 2 in Rochester, Minnesota through the completion of the Silver Lake Station project.
We envision Silver Lake Station as a year round, multi-use space for health and wellness. Our primary focus is to act as a central voice and organizing body for diverse community groups and clubs that have expressed interest in utilizing and optimizing the space. On their own these potential community partners do not have the resources to restore the space.
Leadership Greater Rochester is a comprehensive 10-month leadership development program led by the Rochester Area Chamber Foundation. Each class is comprised of 38 future community leaders in the southeastern region of Minnesota.
This building has been sitting vacant and is currently in need of restoration in order to be brought up to building code and safety standards. Through the partnership of Rochester Parks and Recreation Department, our goal is to develop a business plan that builds partnerships with local groups and creates a phased construction plan for the future renovation of the space. We will also undertake targeted beautification activities.
